Gibitre Instruments’ certified butyl rubber (isobutylene–isoprene) test specimens are a ready-to-use solution for verifying Mooney viscosity on your measuring instruments. Obtained without further processing from an IRM (Industry Reference Material) block prepared by the ASTM D11.20 group in accordance with ASTM D 4678, they provide a reliable reference for repeatable tests on elastomeric materials.
The vacuum-sealed package includes a lower specimen with standard volume and a central hole, an upper specimen with standard volume, two polyester sheets, and the acceptance limits for performing the 1+4 and 1+8 minute tests at 100°C and 125°C. The code to download the IRM block’s Test Certificate is also included.

The specimens are obtained, without rework, from a bale coded as IRM (Industry Reference Material) prepared by the working group ASTM D11.20 (task Group subcommittee on Compounding Materials and Procedures) in accordance with ASTM D 4678.
The vacuum pack includes:

Verification of viscosity using certified specimens does not replace the calibration of the instrument which must be carried out according to the procedures described in the ISO 289-1 standard and equivalent.
Verification by specimens is a valid method to verify that the instrument provides correct results in the period between two successive calibrations or after Ordinary maintenance and cleaning activities.
